Collaborative Computational Project in Synergistic Reconstruction for Biomedical Imaging
Agenda:
- VM (see below)
-the hackathon
-joint image hierarchy
naming of operators (forward/direct/adjoint etc).
Tomas Kulhanek from CCPi will talk about:
CernVM-FS is technology to distribute software based on network file system called AFS. It heavily leverages cache thus can be very fast in cloud, cluster environment for rapid deployment of heterogenous software on e.g. VM with different contextualization. It is developed by CERN, main aim was to deliver such service for computational science in the domain of particle physics, but now it’s designed to be general and offered to scientific community.
CernVM is an exemplar Virtual Machine based on Scientific Linux where not only software, but also the operating system is distributed via the CernVM-FS, network file system. In such case virtual machine image can be very small (18 MB) with contextualization (text configuration - several kB) which boots virtual machine to desired configuration and software. CernVM 3 is based on Scientific Linux 6 (derivative of RHEL 6, or Centos 6), CernVM 4 is based on Scientific Linux 7 (derivative of RHEL 7, centos 7).
